What is a band? Here we are, wandering aimlessly on a lush planet in an otherwise bleak, absurd cosmos. If we're lucky we experience temporary joys, interim moments of clarity while ultimately crawling slowly towards death's burning entrance gate. Wait, where am I? The Vibrating Antennas, Santa Rosa's undisputed torch-bearers of torching doobies return with their sophomore LP, State of the Art. But these are not your alcoholic uncle's barbecue jams of yesteryear... On this album, the follow up to 2014's debut, The 'Length, The Antennas continue to ride the burning wave on an internal smoke-ship through realms rarely seen or heard. Self recorded (with assistance from RJ Phillips) at Petaluma's infamous Grizzly Studios, State of the Art is a raw rock 'n roll head trip. If they were sushi they'd be the Raw Kin Roll. Then they would roll up something else and drift into the night. Listen loud. Maybe even take a walk while doing so. Watch the sun set through the pink clouds and have an introspective meltdown. Fall asleep on a bench near a waterfall. Your life might be better with this album playing.
